CFID extends its sincere appreciation to all those who participated in the 2020 Virtual Bug Run. We would also like to thank everyone who assisted with spreading the word about this event including Shelley Mineault as well as Riccarda from AMMI Canada.
As CFID members are aware, the AMMI Canada – CACMID Annual Conference 2020 was cancelled in light of the COVID-19 situation. Despite this disappointment, CFID moved forward with a virtual version of its 2020 Bug Run. Over the course of several weeks, our members undertook their own 5K run/walk up (while incorporating proper public health practices) and sent in photos of their efforts.
CFID thanks all those who participated in the 2020 Bug Run and for the generous donations from individuals and our partners in the industry. Special mention to CFID Board Member Larissa Matukas who single handily raised over $2,000. These donations will support efforts aligned with our mandate – to improve the health of Canadians and people worldwide through the support of research and dissemination of knowledge pertaining to the prevention, diagnosis, control and treatment of infectious disease – which has never been more relevant.
