Dr. Anthony Chow was the recipient of the 2012 AMMI Canada Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding and distinguished career as an infectious disease physician. His achievements as a researcher, teacher, mentor, and leader have been lauded both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Mark Joffe, President of AMMI Canada, commented: “(Tony)…was the founding head of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of British Columbia. He has been extremely active in both clinical and basic research with particular interest in the role of anaerobic bacteria in health and disease, and the structure, function and molecular pathogenesis of Staphylococcal toxins and superantigens. He has received numerous research and teaching awards and has been very engaged in advocacy, participating in several guidelines committees with the IDSA, among other agencies. Very recently, he agreed to participate on the Board of the Canadian Foundation for Infectious Diseases where he has learned new skills as webmaster.”
